Static Random Breath Testing will officially be suspended as cops fear coronavirus.
NSW and Queensland are participating in the suspension of RBT’s as of NOW.
This is due to fears that police officers could be exposed to COVID-19.
This is the first time EVER that RBT’s have been stopped since they were introduced to the roads so this is obviously a huge deal.
The NSW Police shared a statement
“The Police Commissioner, in consultation with the Minister for Emergency Services, has determined police officers may decide it is not reasonable to undertake stationary RBT and RDT in the current climate.”
The police (and we) have to stress, this is not a chance for you guys to drink and drive.
They can still charge you if they pull you over and catch you BUT more than that, you could hurt someone.
DON’T DO IT.
