NSW Police are appealing for witnesses or any dashcam footage of an alleged road rage incident that took place on the side of Sydney’s M1 motorway at Wahroonga on Monday evening.

The assault reportedly occurred at the intersection of the Pacific Highway and the M1 Motorway heading northbound at about 6:40pm last night.

Police have been told that the driver of a silver Mazda 3 became angry when the car in front stopped at a yellow light.

Both cars then stopped in an emergency bay on the M1 at Wahroonga and both drivers got out of their vehicles.

The 29-year-old driver of a silver Volkswagen Golf has told police that he was punched and kicked to the ground by two men from the Mazda 3. He was treated in hospital for facial injuries and bruising.

The argument was only stopped when a passing motorist intervened and the Mazda 3 drove away from the scene.

An investigation has begun from officers of Kuring Gai Police Area Command, who have released descriptions of two men they wish to speak to.

The first man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his early to mid-30s, about 180cm tall with a solid build, bald, and at the time he was wearing a t-shirt and shorts.

The second man is described as also being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his early 30s, about 175cm tall with a thin build, and short brown hair. At the time he was wearing a white sleeveless top and shorts.

Anyone who may have seen the incident or may have dash cam footage of the assault or the events leading up to it, is being urged to come forward.
