It felt like it would go on forever but the Federal Governments’ disaster payments for those whose income stream was affected by COVID-19 will begin to phase out over the next fortnight.

As we’re soon no longer going to be considered a COVID hot spot, over the next two weeks there will be a 2 part staggered plan to get everyone off the payment plan.

Automatic payments ended after we hit 70%, but if you were still being affected by the lockdown you could still reapply weekly for the payment.

Now that we’ve hit 80%, everyone is being given the boot of the specific disaster payment, YOU CAN STILL GET YOUR REGULAR CENTRELINK PAYMENTS IF YOU WERE GETTING THEM BEFORE!

WEEK 1: If you’ve reapplied for your weekly repayment you’ll still be able to get a $450 payment this week as long as you can prove you’ve lost more than 8 hours or a full day of work and you’re not getting other Centrelink or DVA payments, OR $100 payment if you’ve lost more than 8 hours or a full day of work and you’re still getting a Centrelink or DVA payment.

WEEK 2: If you reapplied for your weekly repayment, you’ll be able to get a final one-off $320 payment this week as long as you prove you’ve lost more than 8 hours or a full day of work and you’re not getting any other Centrelink or DVA payments but if you ARE getting other Centrelink or DVA payments then you Disaster Relief will end.

Melbourne is set to follow this suit as they hurdle towards 80% double vaccinated.
