Well people, it’s December and that means that the Christmas spirit is well and truly alive (although it was definitely alive in our house way back In November… Gotta love Chrissy)

Now one of the best parts about Christmas is not just the putting up of trees, the music and the all-round jolly spirit everywhere, but the Christmas lights that people brighten up their houses with.

While we know most of you would be very content driving around for HOURS on end searching for the best of the best in terms of Christmas lights, if you’re not so keen on the detours, here’s a list of some of the best spots to check out the colourful, festive lights.

And if your suburb didn’t make the list, but you certainly think it should have, then send us a message and some pics!

Check out the BEST Christmas lights in Sydney below:

Sydney’s North:

Elaine Avenue, Northern Beaches – Literally ever single house on this street puts up Christmas lights, so it certainly shouldn’t be hard to find!

Lane Cove – The Lane Cove council hosts a Light Up Lane Cove comp every year so it’s no wonder that lots of residents get into the Christmas spirit here! You can drive around the area and be certain that there will be lights galore! While there’s no specific street you should check out, Sutherland Street was definitely close to the top last year!

Schumack Street, North Ryde – There’s definitely some wow factor with the LED light displays on this street!

10 Cabbage Court, Davidson – The front yard display of lights here is a winter’s wonderland and it’s synchronised to music! Check it out 29th Nov – 12th Dec 8pm-10:30pm, 13th – 26th Dec 7:30pm – 11pm, or 27th Dec – 30th Dec 8pm-10pm

Baulkham Hills – There’s a number of streets to check out here including Geraldine Avenue, Brokenwood Place, Marcel Place, Baulkhalm Hills Road and Juniper Place.

Excelsior Avenue – No doubt you’ve heard of this one before, because there’s literally over 10,000 twinkly lights brightening up this street. They also have Santa making some visits and BBQs for when you get a little peckish while checking out the lights.

Sydney’s South:

The Cascades, Mt Annan – Tons of colourful lights for you to check out here year after year and 2019 will be no different!

Karne Street North, Roselands – This entire suburb typically gets into the Christmas spirit but one house in particular on Karne Street has to be top of your list! They’ve got singing santas, polar bears, Frost The Snowman and even Santa himself on occasion.

Madrers Avenue and Souter Street, Kograh – There’s over 50,000 LED lights out here lighting up these streets! Definitely give it a look!

Sydney’s East:

Avoca Street and Waratah Street, Bondi – Avoca Street has about 50 houses all decorated head-to-toe, while one house in particular on Waratah Street really gets into the Christmas spirit!

Elizabeth Street – Add this street to your list of Christmas Light looking IMMEDIATELY! You won’t regret it

Sydney’s West:

Faversham Crescent – Two houses here join up to make their houses into one giant Christmas wonderland that even the Griswold’s would be envious of!

Grebe Street and Warbler Street, Erskine Park – While there’s lights galore here, in the past there has also been a snow machine! So if you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, go and check this one out!

Burwood Road – 191 Burwood Road truly is extra when it comes to Christmas Lights with over 100,000 LED lights covering the home!

Sydneys CBD:

If professional lights are what you’re after, then Sydney’s CBD is the place to be!

Pitt Street – Pitt Street mall will be lit up with thousands of twinkly lights and a canopy of Christmas trees

Martin Place – This is of course where you’ll find our tallest Christmas tree, with all 800 branches decorated head-to-toe. It has a light show every 15 minutes from 7pm to midnight each night.
