There’s been a crime here at the KIIS studios… And Kyle is NOT happy!

A serious investigation was launched on air this morning after it was revealed that our KIIS neon sign, which usually sits behind Kyle in the studio, had been STOLEN! Can you believe it?! The hide of some people!

“There’s been a massive theft here, now you guys might not even care, but I care greatly,” Kyle said on air this morning.

“Normally, behind Brooklyn, behind another pain of glass, there’s a giant KIIS neon sign. Stolen! Gone!”

The incident occurred as we were throwing our exclusive Bachelor Premiere party in Potts Point on Tuesday night.

The sign was used as a prop at the party before being taken down to the street to be loaded back into our KIIS van. But as it was placed on the street, it was TAKEN by a random off the street.

And before you go saying, ‘Guy’s it’s just a neon sign’, this thing is actually worth $10,000!

Kyle was FUMING. And so he decided to launch a special investigation to try and recover our property live on air.

We began by watching back the security footage from the street outside Pott’s Point hotel, in which you could clearly see a guy dress all in black pick up the sign, pop it over his shoulder and just walk off with it.

But that didn’t really give us any clues so we moved on to the staff who were on site at the event to see what they had to say for themselves after allowing such a crime to take place.

Leilani, our events director, took full responsibility for the theft, admitting that they had left the sign in a back alley way and didn’t actually realise that it was gone until it was far too late.

“I’m going to take responsibility for this, we didn’t notice that the sign was missing for around about an hour,” she said on air.

“We actually took it downstairs to the basement in the loading zone when the premiere screening started and then when we went to go and pack it up an hour later it was gone.”

Despite our team being kind of at fault, Kyle was still adamant to get his sign back. And so he did the only logical thing that you could do… He called Crime Stoppers to ask for help from NSW Police.

Kyle called up Peter, the CEO of Crime Stoppers (no mucking about here we go straight to the head honcho) to ask for his help. We don’t want to charge the person responsible, we just desperately want the sign back!

“You’ll never believe it, someone stole one of our things in Kings Cross on the street,” Kyle explained. “This is horrible for us.”

“Well this is not exactly the most inconspicuous item that’s ever been stolen,” he told us. “I don’t think they’ll be roaming around Kings Cross trying to hawke this thing off somewhere.

“If someone rings… and report where this thing can be found, or who’s got it, they don’t need to give their name or anything they just need to provide the information.”

So if you know where the sign is, or perhaps you yourself stole the sign, PLEASE come forward! We aren’t interested in pressing charges, we just desperately want our property back! (Although we may organise some sort of SHAME ceremony like on GoT…)
