As some coronavirus restrictions in NSW begin to be wound back, we’ve all been wondering when other things will start to go back to normal.
While it still might be a little while before we’re allowed to head out to places like nightclubs, house parties might be back on the cards soon with the current five visitor restriction set to be lifted.
At the moment in NSW, five people from other households can visit your home at one time and they are allowed to stay overnight.
But NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian told Kyle and Jackie O this morning that she is set to make an announcement about this particular rule later today.
“I just had a question about when this five visitor rule to your home is going to ease up?” asked our listener Melissa this morning. “You can go to a restaurant with 10 people but those same 10 people can’t then come to your house.”
“Great question,” Gladys began. “Melissa do you have ESP? Because I’m actually saying something about that later today.”
“So please know that that is one of the next couple of restrictions that we’re easing in NSW. You only have to wait a few more hours before we can tell you that.”
Ms Berejiklian went on to explain why they’ve waited so long to wind back these restrictions.
“But to be honest as we’ve gone through, and if I could just speak about some of the logic, so the health experts give us the advice,” Gladys continued. “But also please know that the risk of getting the virus indoors is much higher than outdoors… Indoors it’s higher, that’s why there are different rules indoors versus outdoors.
“That’s based on the health advice so when you’re in a confined space with a number of people the risk of getting the virus is higher that’s why there are numbers on indoors versus outdoors.”
