Toyota has issued an urgent recall of 45,000 cars that applies to those sold around Australia between October 2013 and April 2020.
The brands recalled include Corolla, Kluger, Camry, Hilux, Landcruiser, Prado and FJ Cruiser.
In a statement, Toyota said the reason behind it was that there is a fear the fuel pump may stop operating.
“If the fuel pump stops working, warning lights and messages may display on the instrument panel, and the engine may not run smoothly
“This can result in the vehicle stalling and the vehicle may not being able to be restarted.”
If the fault occurs at a high speed, it could cause a crash.
Affected owners will be notified at their last known mailing address and customers are being urged to make sure their details are up to date by calling the company’s recall hotline.
