New Zealand comedian Laura Daniel has apologised after attempting to depict Jacinda Ardern in cake form, and failing horrifically.
The amateur baker was competing in a baking competition on Hilary Barry’s television show, Seven Sharp, when this ‘thing’ came to fruition. The challenge required them to make a cake, without flour, depicting a Kiwi icon. While Hilary produced a delicious pavlova in the shape of Aoraki (Mount Cook), Laura’s cake didn’t quite go to plan.
She decided to attempt to make a cake as a tribute to the New Zealand prime minister.
The rest is history…

“They say don’t bake your heroes. But I wanted to try anyway. I’m deeply sorry @jacindaardern I truly tried my best with what I had available,” Daniel wrote on Instagram.
“This cake is totally something else, by far the most interesting post I’ve seen on Instagram today… And those teeth,” one person responded.
Another added, “That will visit my dreams…”
Even Jacinda chimed in with the emojis, “😳😳”.
This isn’t Laura’s run-in with the prime minister. She previously impersonated her!
We can all agree that Jacinda Ardern is a bloody good sport!
