What was just a regular day at the gym for this young women has left her wheelchair bound and needing drastic back surgery.
Six months ago, Jess Davis was enjoying a workout at her gym when she felt her back tweak.
According to Daily Mail, the 23-year-old, retail worker had no idea of the severe damage she had done until she visited her physiotherapist who confirmed she would require the radical surgery to get her ‘spine fused.’
Ms Davis, from Sydney, has spent the past three months confined to a wheelchair and unable to walk, during which time her bladder has consequently stopped functioning properly.
A GoFundMe page has been setup by her best friend, Maddison Pethybridge, after she learnt of the immense financial pressure her family would face to cover the cost of the surgery, and ongoing rehabilitation, which has not been covered by health insurance.
‘So this is my incredibly strong, inspiring and beautiful best friend, Jess Davis,’ Ms Pethybridge wrote on the GoFundMe page.
‘For those who know Jess, know that she is the utter most positive, vibrant and courageous person there could be.
‘We have all witnessed Jess having to use a wheel chair full time over the last three months, meaning that Jess’ life has had to been put on hold.
‘This isn’t a cry for help, a pity donation or a beg for money- but just a simple idea that maybe all of us on the Coast and even further around can help Jess, even if it is a little.’
Ms Davis has expressed how ‘overwhelmed’ she was by the ‘generosity and the hearts of all of you beautiful people.’
‘There’s no words to describe how grateful I am and how grateful my amazing family is. I have never felt so much undeserving love,’ she wrote on Facebook.
