An employee of National Australia Bank has been sacked after reportedly falsifying a positive COVID-19 test result.
The purportedly positive test led to the evacuation of the bank’s head office in Melbourne.
NAB’s chief people officer, Susan Ferrier told staff via email on Monday that the worker had faked the positive test last week.
“The colleague subsequently undertook a test which was negative. Reflecting the severity of this matter, the colleague will not be returning to NAB,” Ms Ferrier wrote while apologising to staff for the stress that stemmed from the situation.
