A McDonald’s employee at a store in Sydney’s southwest has tested positive for coronavirus, but the restaurant is due to remain open.
Director of Corporate Relations for McDonald’s, James Rickards, spoke with Yahoo News Australia, confirming that a staff member at Gregory Hills tested positive and is currently in self-isolation.
“There is no suggestion the crew member was exposed to COVID-19 in the restaurant,” he told the publication in a statement.
“Upon receiving notification of the diagnosis from the NSW Department of Health, we immediately commenced notifying all employees who may have been in contact with the individual during their shifts.”
Mr Rickards also said that they have been in contact with NSW Health who have told them to continue to trade at the store due to the frequency and standard of their sanitisation procedures and use of high-grade cleaning products at their stores.
“The health and safety of our people and our customers is our priority and McDonald’s Australia implements strict cleaning, quality control and hygiene procedures throughout every shift at each of our restaurants,” he said.
