A series of new COVID-19 hotspots have been identified as cases stabilise in NSW.

New South Wales Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant has urged those living in these hotspots to immediately “call their GP” if they begin showing symptoms, and get tested.

According to Dr Chant, testing criteria will be softened to be able to test more people.

Identified NSW hotspots:

  • Penrith
  • Sydney’s Inner West
  • Liverpool
  • Randwick
  • Waverley
  • Woollahra
  • Blacktown
  • Cumberland
  • Westmead
  • Ryde
  • Manning
  • Lake Macquarie

“I would urge everyone in those areas to call their GP, or present to a 19 clinic, or their Emergency Department, depending on the situation, to undergo testing,” Dr Chant said.

A new testing response system has been implemented in NSW that will see people receive their results the same day they are tested.
