Along with your Big Mac, Happy Meal or McCafe coffee you can now buy some essential grocery items from your local McDonald’s drive-thru.

Macca’s will now be selling milk and bread to customers 24 hours a day via their drive-thru and takeaway services, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“In addition to our usual Macca’s menu, customers will also be able to pick up two or three-litre bottles of full cream or skim milk, as well as packs of English muffins and gourmet bread rolls,” said a spokesperson for McDonald’s Australia to 10 Daily.

In a bid to make food delivery safer for customers and staff at all McDonald’s restaurants they’ve also introduced contactless service and contactless payment options.

“Our contactless service removes any need for touch contact between our employees and customers, making it a safe way for people to get food and drinks, as well as these essential basics.”

This comes as McDonald’s announced last week that people can no longer dine in their restaurants, along with new government guidelines that restaurants and cafes could only offer take away food and drink options.

“At Macca’s, looking after you, our team and the wider community is our priority, so in line with government guidance, we’re making a few changes,” McDonald’s said on Social Media.

You can still walk into stores to get food take away, order through drive-thru and get delivery.
