Eating sushi with a bit of soy sauce might seem like a simple act but it turns out we’ve been doing it wrong our entire lives.
A woman recently shared a video of how she eats hers so that she gets the perfect amount of sauce to sushi ratio and honestly it puts our simple dipping method to shame.
The hack has of course since gone viral after the woman, April-Joy Goodlet, posted it to her TikTok account.
Basically what she does instead of just squeezing the soy sauce onto her sushi is she actually pierces the tip into the sushi before squeezing the sauce inside.
This then allows the soy sauce the be evenly spread throughout the whole piece of sushi and become absorbed within the rice.

And now it suddenly makes sense to us why the soy sauce bottle is shaped like a fish! Not just for fun but so that the skinny end can pierce through the seaweed!
People have since commented on the TikTok video, thanking April-Joy for her “genius” and “life-changing” idea.
“OMG absolute game changer. I’m definitely doing this next time,” said one person.
“Why didn’t I think of that before? *Bang my head on sushi*” another said.
“My life will never be the same again,” another wrote.
Agreed! Now, Sushi for lunch to try it ourselves anyone?
