There’s really no doubt about it – not much can compare to a pub meal.

Not only do they usually have various deals going to make them one of the cheapest meals that you can probably find without compromising on deliciousness, but they’re usually quite hearty and feel just like home.

Yak Brewing has launched a nation-wide competition to find Australia’s best pub meals from the following five categories: chicken parmigiana or chicken schnitzel, steak, burger, fish and chips, and pork ribs.

And so we’ve decided to put together five best pub meals that you can find in Sydney!

Check them out below (and get ready to drool!) – and for a chance to win $100, vote for your fave at www.thehungryyak.com.au

The Newport

It’s hard to beat a good pizza when heading out for a pub meal with friends! Not only is it delicious but it’s super easy to share between your group. And well, if you’re after a thick crust, fresh toppings and LOADS of cheese all cooked up in a wood fired oven, then you can’t look past The Newport. You can even enjoy your slice in their relaxing beer garden!

The Public House

It’s hard to go past a chicken parma on a pub night and if you’re looking for the best, we have to say the Parma at The Public House is pretty up there! Just let this quick video do the talking…

The Henson

The pie is usualy a staple menu item at your typical pub. But what makes this one so special is how different it is! Instead of your average beef in a gravy sauce (which don’t get us wrong, is still amazing) the pot pie at The Henson is made with Barramundi! We appreciate a nice twist on a classic favourite!

The Lord Gladstone

When you’re feeling the hunger pains nothing really satisfies that craving quite like a burger. Now, not only does The Lord Gladstone in Chippendale do your average burgers extraordinarily well, but they’re also constantly updating their menu with quirky and alternative additions!

Feel like a soft shell crab burger? A BBQ smoked pulled pork burger? Or how about a burg with a half rack of BBQ maple pork ribs? These are just some of their latest offerings and no doubt they’ve already got your mouth watering.

The Unicorn

We know that this is the one you’ve been waiting for… After all, how can you really discuss a pub meal without making mention of the humble schnitty i.e. the superior pub meal.

So with such a high standard expected for a chicken schnitzel, we’ll admit it was tough to choose an establishment that served up a perfect one. But after much deliberation, we’d say this schnitty from The Unicorn comes quite close.

You know how you’ll usually order gravy with your schnitzel, yet there never seems to be enough? Well, this one comes in a literal POOL of gravy! Not only that, but we like that it changes things up a bit with a bed of creamy potato mash. Of course, if you’re addicted to fried potato like we are, you can get it with chips as well! It’s a win, win!
