Everyone remembers where they were the day they heard about the tragic and untimely passing of Princess Diana.
And while the People’s Princess has never faded from the public’s affection, Prince William and Harry are planning a touching tribute to their late mother ahead of her 20th anniversary to make sure that her legacy truly lives on.
According to People.com, a memorial garden is being planted in the grounds of Kensington Palace and is due to open in the spring of 2017.
The young Royals are said to be working closely with Historic Royal Palaces, the charity that maintains the public areas of the Royal residences.
Of course the location of the garden will make it even more special for William and Harry; as both of the Princes now live at Kensington Palace, the memorial will be perfectly placed for Prince George and Princess Charlotte to enjoy the tribute to their late Grandmother.
The garden is just one of a number of ways Diana’s life will be remembered over the next 12 months, before her 20th anniversary on August 31, 2017.
Earlier this year, Prince Harry told Good Morning America that he hoped that he and his brother were making their mother proud.
“We will do everything we can to make sure that she’s never forgotten and carry on all the special gifts, as such, that she had and that she portrayed while she was alive,” the 31-year-old said.
“I hope that she’s looking down, you know, with tears in her eyes, being incredibly proud of what we’ve established, I suppose.”
