Children can bring light into our lives with just a simple smile, and this little toddler has smiles for days.
Wil was born with Down Syndrome and it wasn’t until after he was born that it was discovered.
And while it took a few days to absorb the news and comprehend how it may affect their family dynamic, Alan, his wife and four other kids have shed a whole new perspective on things.
Early on, Wil would lie on his stomach and wave his arms and legs like he was flying.
Alan being a photographer decided to use this as a concept as his inspiration – but what it resulted in was so, so much more.
“These photos soon took on a whole new meaning for us as we began to consider some of the unique challenges he will face as he grows up. We realize Wil is still young, but we know that even though he has Down Syndrome it doesn’t mean he is limited, he will be able to do anything he puts his mind to. WIL CAN FLY!” their Kickstarter campaign can be quoted as saying.
Watching Wil in each of these photos brought new meaning to his situation, and just 18 months into his life he is showing his family and the world just what he is capable of.
The images became synonymous with Wil’s never ending ability and untapped potential.
And let’s face it. This kid is CUTE!
As the pictures and inspiration continued to roll in, so did that collection’s admirers – many hoping that it would be made into a calender or coffee table book for them to keep.
So the family have started a Kickstarter campaign, asking for pledges of $35 or more to receive a calender.
Half of the proceeds will be donated to two charities of their choosing, Ruby’s Rainbows http://www.rubysrainbow.org/ and Reece’s Rainbows http://reecesrainbow.org/.
The other half of the donated money will go towards both the printing of the calendar, as well as taking the family to visit five different states of America to continue taking Wil’s flying photos in as many different cities and backgrounds as possible for future calendars.
So far the Kickstarter campaign is at $4,500 with half a month still to pledge donations.
