They say you know you’ve made it when you’re impersonated on SNL – but only when they do you justice, right? Well, it’s safe to say that one Aussie has well and truly ‘made it’.

The Saturday Night Live sketch involved the cast imitating various celebrities, all vying for the role of the Oscars host for next year’s ceremony.

After Kevin Hart stepped down as host following growing concerns over old homophobic tweets, speculation immediately arose as to who should replace the comedian, with Variety compiling a list of potential replacements, which included a well-known Aussie – Hannah Gadsby.

The 40-year-old is known for her awe-inspiring Netflix stand-up special Nanette, as well as her presenting role at the Emmys where her one-minute presentation was deemed one of the most memorable moments of the night.

According to Saturday Night Live, Hannah Gadsby’s definitely in the running! The iconic sketch show took it upon themselves to impersonate various celebrities ‘auditioning’ for the role of host for the 2019 Academy Awards.

From Chris Hemsworth (brilliantly portrayed by Matt Damon), Rami Malek and Tiffany Haddish, the show included all the internationally-recognised stars who have been considered potential hosts of the upcoming ceremony, but it was their impression of Hannah Gadsby that truly took the cake.

SNL veteran Aidy Bryant portrayed the Aussie star and the impression was remarkable, albeit the accent.

It’s safe to say that all our Christmas wishes came true with this one!
