Parents are being urged to make sure their children are wearing plastic pants or nylon swimming shorts over their aqua nappies after an increase in public pool evacuations across New South Wales.

Reports show Gosford Olympic Pool and Toukley Aquatic Centre are being closed at least once a month due to ‘number two’s’.

A Mingara Aquatics spokeswoman said “We take the health and safety of our pool users seriously and follow strict processes set out by NSW Health and Central Coast Council to ensure we provide our community with a safe, clean environment.’’

“At times there are incidents of water contamination by pool users that are beyond our control.

“In such circumstances, we follow the NSW Health guidelines for contamination of pool facilities along with the Mingara Aquatics water quality management plan to ensure the health and safety of those using the aquatics facilities.”
