Tiger King’s Doc Antle, the owner of South Carolina wildlife preserve The Institute for Greatly Endangered Rare Species (or T.I.G.E.R.S….of course) has revealed that he sleeps with an AK-47 after receiving as many as 50 death threats a day.
The 60-year-old, whose real name is Mahamayavi Bhagavan Antle was one of the key characters in the crazy doco, and has been accused of animal abuse by animal rights organisations.
Doc told UK tabloid The Mirror that his life is “threatened every day, one to 50 times,” and he thinks it’s animal rights activists behind it.
“I have a pistol in my pocket, another in my glove box. I travel like that all the time.”
“I’m a professional cowboy. I grew up with a six-gun on my hip when I was ten years old.”
As to whether he thinks that US President should give Joe Exotic a pardon for his muder-for-hire plot against Carole Baskin, Antle shows a rare moment of level-headedness for a Tiger King star.
“It’s kind of crazy land. I can’t imagine that will happen…I think Joe could potentially get a new trial if he could get an appeal.
“That’s probably a good thing that he would have an appeal come up, so that the facts can be presented more clearly.
“If I had to put money on it, I think it’s 50/50 Joe could get out.”
