Ex MAFS contestant Jake Edwards has opened up about his experience after the show and it hasn’t been an easy road for him.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, Edwards revealed his regrets about signing up for the show and the recovery process that involved him isolating to a small farm in Victoria with monks to heal.

Famously paired with Bec Zemek, the ‘couple’ had a confusing and turbulent relationship on the show that had many viewers scratching their heads at what on earth was really going on behind the scenes.

‘My experience, yes, was very challenging because of the person I was matched up with, in fact, it was emotionally abusive,’ Edwards revealed to the publication.

After the show aired on Australian television, Jake’s social media saw an influx of hate and his relationship with Queensland influencer Sophie Guidolin fell apart leaving Jake on the precipe of falling apart.

“I had a complete breakdown…I did not handle the airing period (of MAFS) well at all,” he confessed.

The stress from the fallout saw him lose almost 9kilograms in weight and hide away from the world on a Victorian farm for a month.

The retreat rejuvenated him and made him feel like ‘a new person’, and Edwards claims he’s in a much better place now and ready to move on with his life.
