When you think of good looking men, few come to mind that are more suave and sophisticated than Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

The chic, good-looking actor has starred in Bend it Like Beckham and more recently, The Tudors. He is one of the world’s most up-and-coming actors, but what you might not know, is his ongoing battle with alcohol.

This week, pictures have emerged of The Tudors star drinking vodka straight from the bottle as he walked down a London street this week.

He looked less than his sophisticated self as he stumbled in a stained grey T-shirt and unbuttoned jeans, as well as a jacket that appeared to be inside out.

He was disorientated and dishevelled as he left the liquor store.

The Sun on Sunday report that the actor was ‘initially turned down’ when he attempted to buy the vodka in his local shop, before ‘eventually leaving with two bottles.’

The actor has had a well documented battle with alcohol since first finding fame in 2002 as Keira Knightley’s love interest in the hit British movie Bend it Like Beckham.

Jonathan is believed to have had six stints in rehab over the past few years.

In an interview with Mail on Sunday’s Live magazine just after his mother died in 2007, Meyers insisted his drinking had been ‘blown out of all proportion.’

‘I haven’t even thought about drinking since my mother passed away. Drinking is not the way forward for me at all,’ he said. ‘I never even drank till I was 25 anyway. I was in Thailand on my own, filming. I was a little bit lonely and I started drinking.’

‘Since I was 27 I must have drunk maybe a dozen-and-a-half times – but when I do, I’m like Bambi. I’m all over the place, hopeless, like a 16-year-old kid. People notice.’
