A toddler just survived a horrific car crash that should have killed him. But, this is more than a story of luck. Jackson Taylor was saved by spinal surgeon Dr Geoff Askin managed to reattach the little boy’s head, after it was removed from his body in the accident.

The six hour landmark surgery saved Jackson’s life, ‘A lot children wouldn’t survive that injury,’ he said. ‘And if they did and they were resuscitated then they may never move or breathe [by themselves] again.’

Jackson wears headgear (he calls a ‘halo’) to keep his body in place and he is, miraculously, expected to make a full recovery with the headgear coming off in two months.
