Matilda Kahl lives in New York, is an art director at advertising firm Saatchi and Saatchi and has worn the exact same outfit to work every day for the last 3 years.
Matilda told Harper’s Bazaar that she made this decision after turning up to one Monday morning meeting with an inside out jumper.
She explained, “I had completely stressed myself out, and for what? This was not the first morning I’d felt this unnecessary panic, but that day I decided it would be the last.”
Matilda then decided to formulate her very own work uniform.
She opted for a white shirt, black trousers and black blazer, with a little black leather rosette tied around her neck for “personal detail.”
Just recently however she has decided that her original 15 white silk shirts have seen better days and will be updating her uniform to a new look, to last her the next 3 years.
She told AdAge “last weekend I spent two days on a rather intense hunt for a new hero shirt. I finally found it at Zara… I spoke to the store manager and ordered 15 of them, negotiated down the price (as one always should) and walked home with my wardrobe for next year’s 254 working days.”
Matilda couldn’t be happier about her decision saying “‘The simple choice of wearing a work uniform has saved me countless wasted hours thinking, “what the hell am I going to wear today?” And in fact, these black trousers and white blouses have become an important daily reminder that frankly, I’m in control.”
Is it just us or is Matilda really onto something here?
