It’s supposed to be the happiest time of the year, however a new survey by Information Is Beautiful suggests otherwise.

Statisticians who study Facebook posts about breaking up (yes, this is really a job), have identified this Sunday (two weeks before Christmas) as the most common day of the year to get dumped.

A stingy partner trying to get out of buying another gift maybe? Or someone freaking out about meeting the in-laws over Christmas lunch?

Well, The Mirror author Zahra Mulroy believes the real reason for the increase in breakups on this particular day is simply stress.

And apparently, it’s not the only day of the year which sees a massive increase in breakups, with Information Is Beautiful creating this very insightful graph to track the peak times when people change their Facebook relationship status from ‘in a relationship’ to ‘single.’

Whilst getting dumped so close to Christmas can be heartbreaking and downright awful, on the plus side, who doesn’t love being young and single during summer?
