We’re being warned that if it seems too good to be true – it probably is, after a series of dodgy Facebook scams claiming to be from our favourite stores.

The likes of Chemist Warehouse, Coles and Myers customers have been targeted by Facebook ads offering free products and samples.

Once people click through the links, they are asked to provide their bank details to pay for postage.

Unfortunately, once those details are entered, the site begins withdrawing money with one woman revealing to Fairfax she’d already been stung for $400.

Using the companies’ logos, the scammers use sponsored posts that feature the company’s web address to lure customers in.

One of the latest scams targeting Chemist Warehouse, tells people they’re giving away free samples due to the warehouse being overstocked.

Many people don’t even realise the retailer isn’t involved, with the discount chain revealing they’ve received multiple complaints about the “unethical” promotion.

After several weeks, the company was finally able to get the scam removed and the page banned. However, it didn’t take long for new dummy accounts to appear.
