It may be hard to believe that it’s been 10 years – hands up who feels old – since The Devil Wears Prada first hit our screens but, if Elton John has anything to do with it, we’ll be terrified by Miranda Priestly all over again very shortly.
The 69-year-old singing legend has signed on to score a new musical based on the top-selling novel and hit movie, teaming up with lyricist and writer Paul Rudnick.
And with two Tony Awards for his work on The Lion King and Billy Elliot: The Musical under his belt, there’s probably no-one better to take the job on.
“Re-imagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theatre is super exciting,” Elton said in a statement. “I’m a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world.
“I can’t wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture.”
There’s no production timeline or casting options yet but, like, will ANYONE be able to top Meryl Streep as the spine-tingling Runway boss?
Let’s just give her the Tony already.
