Fans of the Today Show were no doubt shocked and disappointed to see Sylvia Jeffrey’s leave the position of newsreader at the end of last year.

But it turns out she’s not going all too far! It’s been revealed that the journalist will reportedly stick around at the network and appear across “several departments” in 2019.

According to Daily Mail Australia, a Nine Spokesperson confirmed the exciting news and said that she would appear on shows like A Current Affair.

“Sylvia is working on some projects close to her heart across several departments, including A Current Affair,” the spokesperson said.

“We’ll have more to announce soon.”

This news comes after most of the big names behind Nine’s Today Show program began dropping like flies, announcing they wouldn’t be returning to the breakfast show.

In December last year, Sylvia followed behind her husband Peter Stefanovic and brother-in-law Karl Stefanovic, acknowledging her departure in a formal statement issued by the network.

“I’ve loved and embraced every minute of my Today show chapter and I’m thrilled to sink my teeth into a brand new project,” she said.

“Opportunity often knocks when you least expect it and I’m ready to dive right in to what’s ahead of me.”

At this point it’s believed that Sylvia will not be taking over as host of the evening program A Current Affair, but will instead join current host Tracy Grimshaw for some special projects close to her heart.
