We feel like we already need another long weekend after the absolute nightmare that has hit Sydney commuters this morning.

As most people head back to work for the first time following the Easter break, we’ve been hit with a transport nightmare with major delays across the Sydney train network.

The significant delays are impacting seven different lines this morning and are reportedly due to urgent equipment repairs.

Anyone travelling along T1 Western Line & North Shore Line, T2 Inner West & Leppington Line, T3 Bankstown Line, T8 Airport & South Line, T9 Northern Line, Blue Mountains Line and Central Coast & Newcastle Line are all advised to allow plenty of extra travel time.

The repairs were needed after a widespread power outage this morning impact signalling between Strathfield and Ashfield.

It’s believed that the issue has been fixed but the delays continue and are expected to worsen throughout the morning.

Buses are supplementing some services between Redfern, Strathfield and Lidcombe. Commuters seeking real time advice can get updates through the Sydney Trains twitter accounts.
