A body of a man has been found after firefighters doused what is believed to be a suspicious fire at a house in Sydney’s southwest.
Emergency services were called to the house on Crank Place in Elderslie about 11.40pm on Saturday following reports of a home invasion and a house fire.
The man’s body was found after the fire was put out and is yet to be formally identified. He is not believed to be a resident of the home.
Six other people were in the home at the time and they were all taken to hospital, along with two firefighters, for smoke inhalation.
One of the officers also suffered a fractured hand. Both officers have now been released.
Detectives are treating the fire as suspicious and a targeted incident.
They are urging anyone with information to come forward.
