Popular car brand Subaru have been forced to recall more than 40,000 vehicles over safety concerns regarding the brakes.
The vehicles reportedly have faulty electronic parking brake (EPB) circuit boards, which poses an increased risk of injury to drivers and passengers.

“If the electronic parking brake circuit board fractures, the warning light will illuminate and the EPB cannot be applied or released,” said the ACCC in the recall notice.
“If this happens, the vehicle may be in breach of the Australian Design Rules (ADRs) for motor vehicles. If the electronic parking brake cannot be applied or released, it can result in an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants and other road users.”
The affected vehicles include all 2010 to 2014 models of Subaru Liberty and Outback vehicles. The company’s data shows that 19,480 Liberty vehicles and 23,211 Outback vehicles are involved in the recall.
“Subaru Australia is conducting this recall campaign to ensure the affected vehicles maintain compliance with the Australian Design Rules for motor vehicles,” wrote Subaru on their website.
This recall comes after more the three million vehicles across Australia were affected by the deadly Takata airbag recall that was linked to 24 deaths world wide.
