In an unprecedented move it seems that TV reboot Roseanne will go ahead – without the titular character Roseanne Barr herself.
ABC confirmed the show would go on with the remaining characters, with 10 episodes of the rebranded “The Connors” ordered by the network.
“After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before,” the network released.
“This iconic family – Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. – grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging, and in-laws in working-class America.
“Through it all, the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns – with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails.”
It is yet to be addressed how they will deal with the departure of Roseanne herself.
“We are grateful to have reached this agreement to keep our team working as we continue to explore stories of the Conner family,” Executive Producer Tom Werner said.
Drama engulfed the series reboot after Roseanne posted a racist, insensitive tweet comparing a former Obama advisor to an ape.
And while the network and co-stars distanced themselves from her, the love for the series was still evident both among cast and fans.
We can’t wait to see what they come up with!
