The lead singer of The Cars, Ric Ocasek, has been found dead in his apartment in New York.

The 70-year-old (other sources have reported he was 75)  was reportedly found unconscious and unresponsive by his estranged wife, Paulina Porizkova.

It’s believed he died of natural causes.

The Cars were an iconic new wave rock band who exploded onto the scene in 1978 with smash hits like “My Best Friend’s Girl” and “Just What I Needed.”

Ric was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year.
