Real Housewives of Melbourne star Gamble Breaux is used to drama following her wherever she goes. While she gives as good as she gets on screen to her female co-stars, she didn’t expect to face off against four burley men, who she says abused her on King William Road.
The gorgeous star was in Adelaide for a charity event raising much needed funds for Touched By Olivia when the incident took place.
The reality TV star says she was filming a promotional video for the event when she was harassed by men outside Robbie’s Chop Shop.
In a video obtained by Mix 1023 the men are heard woof whistling, clapping and yelling at the star. Male voices are heard calling the 46-year-old a ‘b**ch” and another is heard yelling ‘f**k you.”
Owner Robert Ferrante told Mix 1023 he was one of the men involved in the confrontation, but denied yelling at the star. He claimed it was a misunderstanding and he was talking to the men inside the shop.
“I had no idea who she was. We were just sitting out the front chatting amongst ourselves loudly, as we do and she started yelling at us,” he said.
The barber shop recently came under fire for not allowing women in its store, but Mr Ferrante said women are welcome to enter as long as they don’t stay long.
“We do try and cater for everyone. We get a lot of mothers who bring their son’s. If ladies want to make a quick purchase for the their husbands that’s fine – obviously we don’t like them to say,” he said.
Gamble labelled the men’s behaviour ‘misogynistic’ and ‘feral’ and told Mix 1023 she’s speaking out to encourage others to do so and hopefully stop the harassment.
“It’s unacceptable for men to treat women like that. I don’t think they should be able to go on like that. I hope they’ve learnt their lesson,” she said.
“We don’t need anyone behaving like that, whether it’s in Toorak or a rough street. Laws should be enforced to stop that sort of behaviour,” she continued.
Despite the incident, Gamble was quick to sing Adelaide’s praises, saying it’s one of the best places she’s been to.
The barber shop has since apologised to the reality star and have offered to donate $500 to the Touched By Olivia foundation.
