It may be the role that won Patricia Arquette a Golden Globe, but her latest flick Boyhood wasn’t the big paycheck you’d expect.
Talking to WENN after her big win for Best Supporting Actress, she revealed that during the 12 years it took to film the movie, she paid more to her babysitter and dog walker.
“It’s important to me as an actor to be able to make a living (but) I’m going to tell you something – I paid more money to my babysitter and my dog walker than I made on Boyhood, and to be in Boyhood,” she said.
“Television actually allows you to make a living, feed your children, send them to college. And to have the luxury to make the choices of doing what it is you think that matters.”
But it seems the gamble to work on an indie flick that took over a decade to film is paying off.
Having already taken one trophy home, the former Medium star has also been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award and BAFTA, while Boyhood is expected to be a strong contender for Best Film this awards season.
