Coldplay have delayed their plans to tour until they can offer more ‘environmentally beneficial’ gigs.
Frontman Chris Martin made the bold statement during a chat with the Beeb this week.
“We’re not touring this album,” he said.
“We’re taking time over the next year or two, to work out how our tour can not only be sustainable [but] how can it be actively beneficial.”
He said the band would be disappointed if their next tour wasn’t carbon neutral.
“We’ve done a lot of big tours at this point. How do we turn it around so it’s not so much taking as giving?”
Coldplay will play two shows in Jordan today, November 22, the same day their new album, Everyday Life, is released.
Instead of the band touring the album, the Jordan gigs – at sunrise and sunset, representing the ‘two’ sides of the record – will be broadcast free on YouTube.
