It’s hard to believe but one of the biggest scandals to go around the world of TV recently is whether or not James Corden really drives during his Carpool Karaoke segments.
While James is always pictured behind the wheel of his Range Rover with his celebrity guest in the passenger seat driving around the streets of LA, recent footage basically proved that this is all fake.
A Fan of the show posted footage of James’ car being pulled behind the back of a truck during the filming of a Carpool Karaoke episode with Justin Bieber, sending the internet into an absolute frenzy over the shock revelation.
But then James came out recently on his talk show The Late Late Show basically saying that this is fake news and he DOES drive the car but only when it’s safe to do so.
Basically if they’re doing something in the car that would be distracting to a driver, they pull the car behind the truck. James also said that this has only happened a handful of times.
Of course, despite addressing the rumour himself, fans are still questioning whether James is or isn’t driving.
And so when one of the stars that has done a Carpool Karaoke segment with Corden joined the Kyle and Jackie O show, we decided to find out first hand – does he drive or doesn’t he?
Michael Buble is the star who opened up about his experience in the Range Rover with Corden back in 2018, telling Kyle and Jackie that James 100% drove during their episode.
“You would have seen the news that came out recently that James Corden doesn’t always drive the car and they’re often just being pulled along behind a truck in a rig like in the movies,” Jackie told Buble this morning.
“So for yours, did he actually drive?”
“Oh no! No, James drove the whole way,” Michael replied immediately in defence of Corden.
“And it was way longer than I thought it would be. We went for over two and a half hours or something.”
“We were out there a long time,” Buble continued about his Carpool Karaoke experience. “We had a blast I mean I was dying and we were laughing our heads off and it’s a lot of fun.”
Michael Buble than gave his own theory as to why Justin Bieber’s episode in particular needed to be have the driving faked.
“I wonder if it’s like that because Bieber’s so famous that maybe they can’t, you know what I mean, who knows if they can get out and do it,” he told us. “I don’t know. But ours was as natural as it could be.”
Well looks like there’s your proof! James Corden really does drive most of the time during Carpool Karaoke.
