The National American History Museum in Washington, DC, is offering a job of a lifetime.
A three year contract on US$64,650 per year to travel America drinking craft beers.
Of course there is a catch…
Not any self-confessed beer connoisseur can successfully apply.
They are seeking someone with an advanced degree to report back on their research.
“[The candidate with have] proven experience in scholarly research, organizing and conducting oral history interviews, writing for both scholarly and general audiences, and knowledge of material culture and archival materials,” it states.
Ideally the person will have “an advanced degree in American business, brewing, food, cultural, or similar specialization within history.”
So that rules us out… but all for the candidates that fit the mould!
But however scores the role will get to be a part of some exciting research into the huge growth area of craft beer.
In America alone, craft beer makes up 11 per cent of the overall beer market despite such widespread exposure to the mainstream brands.
Surely if this role does well they could expand the research to Australia right?
That gives us a few years to look into that advanced degree… Or at least research more craft beers.
