Former reality TV star Lauren Conrad has banned terms including “skinny” and “thin” from her website, in order to combat body shaming.
The fashion designer and blogger shared a post on her website explaining the decision, saying that such terms shame those with bigger bodies who could be equally as healthy.
“When we’ve talked about getting in shape in the past, words like ‘skinny,’ ‘slim,’ and ‘thin,’ have often come up. Starting this month, we’ll be banning any body shaming terms from the site, and replacing them with words like ‘fit,’ ‘toned,’ and ‘healthy’,” she wrote.
Though her website has in the past shied away from using such words, it is from now official, as they turn their focus towards “being fit as opposed to a number on the scale”.
We love Lauren’s positive attitude and amazing message for men and women everywhere.
