One of the biggest story lines so far this season on Married At First Sight, apart from the whole Ines and Sam cheating saga, is that Matthew lost his virginity to his onscreen wife Lauren.

When we first met Matthew on the show, he was described as a 29-year-old virgin whose experience with intimacy and relationships was next to nothing.

But after meeting Lauren at the end of the aisle, all of this appeared to change and eventually, after a few awkward moments and even a trip to the hospital, Matthew lost his virginity to Lauren while on their Honeymoon.

After their storyline progressed, and it became aware that Lauren wanted a partner who could easily be intimate with her and take the lead, Lauren says that people began to assume that she had pushed matt into going to the next level.

However, during a tell-all interview on the Kyle and Jackie O show this morning, Lauren revealed that this was far from the case.

About last night… #MAFS

In fact, she revealed that Matt was the one who wanted to take their relationship to the next level.

“Were you always wanting to sleep with Matt?” Jackie asked.

“No, and this is the thing that upsets me as well is that everyone’s saying that I was so pushy with Matt,” Lauren replied.

“Matt is the one that instigated it. He wanted to have sex,” she added. “He was the one that instigated it.”

Of course, this is not the way that things seemed on screen. And as Jackie pointed out, it almost seemed as though Matthew was in complete turmoil about the idea of having sex for the first time as we saw him having to be rushed to the hospital.

“Okay because yeah, we saw him freaking out about it and ending up in hospital,” Jackie said. “Did he need to go to hospital? Was that just for dramatic effect?”

In the episode in question, Matthew and Lauren had just shared an intimate bath together when Matt was seen bent over, leaning on the bed, saying he felt unwell.

“I’m feeling really crook, I don’t know what’s going on,” Matthew said to producers during the episode, before being taken to hospital to undergo tests.

“Last night I got just really unwell. I’d been pushing through some pain for a while and it just got the better of me,” he also said.

While it was never explicitly revealed why Matthew had to go to hospital, viewers at home assumed that he suffered from some sort of severe panic attack.

Speaking with the Kyle and Jackie O Show this morning, Lauren seemed to hint that there was much more to this story that we didn’t see, but she wasn’t willing to divulge any further.

“There’s a lot more to that,” Lauren revealed.

“Was that an anxiety attack? What was that?” asked Beau Ryan, who was filling in for Kyle.

“Look, no comment,” Lauren replied. “Yeah there was definitely more to that. Something I’m not going to disrespect Matt and discuss.”

As for what it was like to get intimate with your partner while all of the cameras were around, Lauren told us that it was completely uncomfortable and something she never got used to.

“It’s so awkward. It’s so awkward, far out,” she said. “I never felt comfortable. Ever. Like never.”

Lauren went on to detail other parts of her experience with Married At First Sight on and off the camera.
