1) Go swimming with the Dolphins
2) Visit the theme parks in Queensland
3) See snow for the first time
These are just some of the items on little Sterling’s Bucket List.
Sterling is only 10-years-old but unfortunately he already has a ticking timer on the time that he has left to achieve everything that he wants to in life.
Little Sterling was diagnosed with a very rare degenerative disorder known as Wolfram Syndrome at a young age. This disease can cause various disorders including childhood-onset diabetes, vision loss and deafness, and the life expectancy of a person suffering from this disorder is only between 25-30 years old.
At the time that Sterling was born, his parents Julie and Mark had no idea that they were both carriers of Wolfram Syndrome. When they eventually found out it was too late and unfortunately Sterling along with his twin siblings Nelson and Felix were all diagnosed with the tragic disease.
Unfortunately, the symptoms have already started affecting Sterling and he is slowly but surely losing his sight. But instead of focusing on his devastating circumstances, Sterling is incredibly positive and has decided to create a bucket list of things he wants to achieve before going completely blind.
When Kyle and Jackie O heard about the struggles of Sterling and his entire family they knew that they wanted to do something to help and so they decided to help him reach his dreams.
Thanks to our friends at Village Roadshow, we have been able to organise a holiday for Sterling and his family to stay at Seaward Resort, visit all three of their theme parks including Movie World, Wet N Wild and Seaward, and of course an experience swimming with the dolphins!
Of course, that still left an experience with snow on the list but the guys at Village Roadshow weren’t going to give up that easily! They also offered to have Sterling come back to the theme parks in December when they have their Winter Wonderland special to experience snow on the Gold Coast!
We couldn’t be happier to make this little boys bucket list dreams come true! Sending all of our love to little Sterling and his family!
