The ‘bad blood’ and cat fights continue with Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry slinging mud over Twitter in recent days.
Katy Perry has weighed into the debate after Nicki Minaj felt jipped after her video for Anaconda did not get a nomination for Best Music Video at the VMAs.
So after Katy’s public rival Taylor Swift tweeted “I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..”, she obviously felt compelled to respond.
Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…

The real travesty is where is the shine for #BBHMMVideo when VMA eligibility period was 7/7/14-7/1/15 & that gem dropped 7/1… @MTV

Meanwhile, Taylor and Nicki have seemingly buried the hatchet and made up.
I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I’m sorry, Nicki. @NICKIMINAJ

That means so much Taylor, thank you. @taylorswift13 ❤️❤️❤️

I’ve always loved her. Everyone makes mistakes. She gained so much more respect from me. Let’s move on. https://t.co/mx9pfIdnzT

But Nicki didn’t ignore Katy’s sly respoonse. Sending her a kiss as a nod of acknowledgement…

If I was a different “kind” of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well. 😊😊😊
— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 21, 2015
Ellen did her own anaconda video and did the #choreo lol. Remember her doing that kick 😩. Even mtv did a post on the choreo @MTV remember?
— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 21, 2015
U couldn’t go on social media w/o seeing ppl doing the cover art, choreo, outfits for Halloween…an impact like that & no VOTY nomination?
— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 21, 2015
When the “other” girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 21, 2015
Oh but trust me. I’ll be on that stage to collect my awards for vid of the year. Feeling Myself & Anaconda. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Prompting Taylor to respond and defend herself.
And we see her point… Considering the other nominees were Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and Mark Ronson, the main nominee who fits thee ‘very slim body’ category is Taylor herself.
@NICKIMINAJ I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..
— Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) July 21, 2015
@NICKIMINAJ If I win, please come up with me!! You’re invited to any stage I’m ever on.
— Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) July 21, 2015
Yet Nicki denied tthat she was targeting the ‘Bad Blood’ singer specifically .
Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn’t say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this. @taylorswift13
— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 21, 2015
Nicki’s arguement then turned slightly to say women of colour are often disadvantaged in major award ceremonies and in the industry generally.
I’m so glad u guys get to see how this stuff works. Taylor took her music off spotify and was applauded. We launched Tidal & were dragged.
— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 21, 2015
We want to see a mix of everyone doing well in the music industry!
Let’s hope this is the end of the Twitter back and forth and they can support and encourage each other.
We wouldn’tt object to a Taylor / Nicki collaboration, would you?
