The ex-wife of Today Show host Karl Stefanovic has spoken about the very public breakup of their marriage in her first sit-down television interview.

Cassandra Thorburn has appeared on Channel 7s The Morning Show, telling hosts Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur that her new children’s book was a “passion project” to help women and children going through a relationship breakup.

All proceeds from the book, called Leo Lion’s Big Bed will go to Relationships Australia, a resource Thorburn used during her breakup with Stefanovic.

“It is a passion project,”

“They prioritise children in the separation process. It was a perfect thing for us to put all profits there because it important to me, it is part of what me and my children have been through that led to me writing a children’s book.”

“I’m stepping out to say be comfortable in yourself and be comfortable in your skin and pursue the things that you want to pursue regardless of what is going on the sidelines.”

Thorburn continued:

“I think everyone knows separating and divorce is particularly challenging for the children especially,”

“And it being so public probably wasn’t perfect.”

“I want to focus on my children and making sure that we are all happy and well and looking that far ahead and focusing on myself is not something that I am wanting to do right now.”
