As non-essential businesses have been forced to close across the country amid the coronavirus outbreak, leaving jobs vulnerable and loss of income inevitable, many people are stepping up to try and do their bit to help out.

One person who has offered a helping hand is Today Show co-host Karl Stefanovic.

Taking to his Instagram account this morning, the larrikan TV presenter took a more serious approach and offered to plug small businesses to his 250K followers to help them generate business during this tough time.

“If you or your business need a free plug to keep going during these difficult times.. if you make stuff at home and want a plug.. if you have skills and want to use them.. then my Instagram is yours,” Karl wrote.

“Just DM me a couple of lines and maybe a photo of 20 second video and contact details for folks at home and I will walk them up.”

Karl called for his followers to get creative with their plugs and said that we need to support our small businesses now more than ever and “keep this country moving”.

“Make them fun if you like. The funeral the bettered. Get creative. We need to keep this country moving. Go for it. Support your village. Xx.”

Tons of people have taken to the comments section to praise the idea and Karl has actually already done his first plug post!

He appears to be calling the posts “Karl’s Classifieds” and his first video was that of Nissa Ramm in Queensland.

Speaking about the segment on the Today Show this morning, Karl explained that Nissa lost her partner and set up a gym in order to support her family. While gyms are now closed during the coronavirus outbreak, Nissa is now doing livestream workouts for free.

Karl posted a short clip of her workouts to his Instagram page and has called for other small business to send through videos!
