It could be the move that divides the pop loving universe.

But Justin Bieber was just stirring up trouble when he joked about being the newest member of One Direction on Twitter this week.

Tweeting at US radio host Ryan Seacrest, the 21-year-old joked:

Manager Scooter Braun was quick to jump in and clarify that Justin was only kidding, in case it wasn’t obvious – and before any gullible fans could get into a tizzy.

Though he may not be replacing Zayn (and really, who could?), Biebs did reveal that he’s collaborating with Kanye West on his upcoming album, and has opened up about the process of working with rap’s biggest genius.

“I’ve been in the studio with him for the past month or so,” he told Seacrest.

“He just pushes you. He definitely wants it to be my way and my direction and he doesn’t want to steal what I want. That’s why artists like go to him, because he pulls something out of you that other people don’t.”

Bieber also revealed that he’s taking his time with his new music, as he wants to put everything he’s got into it and make it the best it can be.

“I know there’s a lot of stuff that I’ve been going through over the past few years,” he said.

“I just really want to bleed out on this record.”
