She’s one of our favourite characters, but it appears Rachel Rafter (uh, we mean, Jessica Marais!) won’t be appearing in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video ‘Packed To The Rafters’ reboot.
The actress has cited ‘personal reasons’ as the motive behind her decision.
An email from her management, RGM Artists, confirmed the news stating, “Jessica Marais has decided to step away from the new series BACK TO THE RAFTERS for personal reasons. She thanks everyone involved on the show for their ongoing support and love, especially her ‘Rafter’s family’, and sends them her very best wishes for the production.”
A spokesperson for Amazon added, “Seven Studios and Amazon would like to sincerely thank Jessica for her work to date on Back to the Rafters and we fully support Jessica’s decision.”
Marais has been dealing with mental health issues since stepping away from acting two years ago.
In 2018, Marais was cast in Channel Nine drama, Bad Mothers, but pulled out of the production, and was subsequently replaced at the last minute by Tess Haubrich. The reasoning behind this decision also stemmed down to the 35-year-old’s mental health.
We wish Jessica Marais a swift recovery.
