At the end of last year, it was revealed that landscaping expert – and fan favourite – Jason Hodges had been sacked after 16 years on Better Homes and Gardens.
Much like his fans, Jason was taken by complete surprise, publicly stating that he was “absolutely gutted” to be dropped from the Seven Network.
Hodges has since spoken to Yahoo Lifestyle about the surprise axing, admitting that he “didn’t see it coming”.
Jason is still coming to terms with the decision, but has his own theories around why he was dropped, and attributes this to the show’s desire to refresh the program’s existing audience.
“[The Channel Seven executives are] trying to attract a younger audience that doesn’t exist [because] your average 25-year-old doesn’t watch Better Homes and Gardens,” he told Yahoo Lifestyle.
Shortly after Jason’s sacking, it was revealed that Charlie Albone of Selling Houses Australia would be replacing him.
But, this is definitely not the end for Jason, revealing to the publication that he plans to get a TV series off the ground.
“People like the authenticity of how I present and they want to know what I’m doing”.
