We love a good reboot and the latest show reportedly being brought back to our TV screens has got us so excited because it’s an Aussie classic!

According to reports from TV Tonight, classic 90s series Heartbreak High is getting a reboot!

The publication reports that the teen drama set in an Aussie high school is currently in development for a reboot with production company Fremantle, who are working with the format owners to make it happen.

Fremantle is yet to publicly comment on news of the reboot and no real details are available yet.

News of a Heartbreak High reboot comes 26 years after the show first hit our screens. It lasted seven seasons and was axed in 1999.

The series marked the start of the acting careers of numerous Aussies including Callan Mulvey, Ada Nicodemus, Alex Dimitriades and Abi Tucker. There’s no word on whether any of the original cast could return for a reboot.


Set at Hartley High, the show explored various topics like romance, school, family, sex, drugs and homelessness.

It was actually a spin-off from a 1993 film The Heartbreak Kid and was filmed in Sydney from 1994.

Broadcasting on Channel 10 before later hitting the ABC here in Australia, Heartbreak High was also shown overseas in places like Canada, the US, India, Russia and numerous European countries.
