Instagram pictures with a warm filter have been found to have the highest rates of engagement and likes!

Thanks to a study conducted by Yahoo Labs and Georgia Institute of Technology, photos with warm filters, higher contrast and increased exposure increased views and comments.

However, the study also revealed that by just filtering your pictures, you are 45 percent more likely to receive comments and 21 percent more likely to have your image viewed!

The study looked at around 7.6 million Flickr photos, many which were cross-posted from instagram.

Additionally, selfies were seen to have grown in popularity as the study found that photos of faces rather than places attracted the highest engagement!!

“We are social animals and want to see other people — it’s comforting to us and makes us safe,” according to lead author Saeideh Bakhshi from Yahoo Labs. “This is engrained in us at a very early age, when babies are looking for the support of their parents.”

Other research from Arizona State University found the five most popular Instagram filters are Normal (unfiltered), Amaro, X-Pro II, Valencia and Rise.
