If you’re one of those people who meticulously updates their apps, then you may have noticed something different about Instagram.

Or perhaps we should say – something similar.

The photo app has been called a copycat over its latest update which revealed a new, and very familiar, feature.

Called Instagram Stories, the update allows users to create temporary slideshows.

That vanish 24 hours later.

Anyone else getting a sense of dejavu?

The photo app, which is owned by Facebook, has been called out for stealing the feature from Snapchat and it’s easy to understand why.

The feature, which sits separate from your main feed, gives you the option to add doodles, text and emoji. You can also keep tabs on who is watching. Just like Snapchat.

However there are some differences.

Instagram will allow you to share photos already taken – provided they were snapped within the last 24 hours.

Navigating the stories will also differ slightly. Tap right and you’ll move to the next slide. Tap left you’ll go back. Swipe and you can skip to the next story.

Still, there’s no denying it. Facebook’s declaring war.

Who do you think does it better? Snapchat or Instagram?
